Thing 4 - digital footprint.

I'm always quite conscious of the things that I do online and the digital footprint I leave behind.
I googled myself as asked but the only thing that came up was my Facebook page along with all the other Lynne Robertson's.
I do have Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram but the first thing I do is check all of my privacy settings and I make sure that I only add people that I know.

The video that I watched was very powerful indeed and just goes to show that you really need to be careful about who you are talking about online and what you are saying. In my line of work (childcare) I have had quite a few parents try to add me on Facebook but I've always told them that it is my company's policy not to!
This only safeguards myself as I know a few people who have added parents and they started messaging them about "nursery stuff" when really they should have been phoning in to speak to the manager.

As I've said before I'm not the greatest with technology but my Husband keeps the computer and laptop up to date with antivirus and firewalls.
I also regularly go on to my device maintenance on my phone and run a scan.

I also have online banking and do shop online so always make sure that my passwords are "strong".

While doing this "Thing4" it has made me think and I'm quite happy that my digital footprint is manage very effectively.

Lynne.

Open badges

Hi it's me again !

Although I struggled to get the correct URL for my first blog hopefully second time round will be easier. 😕

I think this open badges from the SSSC is a great idea. It's a brilliant idea and great way of learning at my own pace and it is ideal that it is a recognised way of recording my achievments digitally.

Although I have been a qualified Nursery Nurse for 20 years it is a good way for myself to continue learning and achieve new skills and knowledge so that I can be up to date with things and provide the best service for my children and parents.

It's great to know that once a badge is achieved I can share it online with my family and friends. Or go public with it.🙈

I am looking forward to trying to achieve as many of the "23 things" that I can in the 8 weeks allocated and hopefully I will learn a lot from this.

First blog

Well I'm new to this blogging, but here goes.

My name is Lynne and I currently work in a private nursery as a nursery practitioner. I have done this type of work for over 20 years now 😯. 10 years in my current employment.

I'm always looking at ways to achieve more training and saw this challenge to do " 23 things digital" through the SSSC.

Anyway I will hopefully manage to complete some of the 23 Things list, and to work towards getting my first open badge. But I am not the most technical person and have never "blogged" before in my life.

Hopefully I will enjoy it and I am looking forward to learning new skills and to reading everyone else's blogs.
